Bishop Adekunle Oluwaseun used to be a Muslim; his Muslim name was Abdullateef Abdulmumeen Olorunoje, until he converted to Christianity. He speaks on why he changed religion and how this has benefitted him. Excerpts:
You are from Ilorin, in Kwara State, and you were a Muslim before converting to Christianity; what was your reason for the change in religion?
I converted to Christianity following divine encounter that my father in the Lord, Sheikh Muhammad Jamiu Yusuf, who is now Bishop Joseph Adekunle Adeniyi, had with God; my daddy in the Lord had a great encounter with our Lord Jesus, when Jesus appeared to him and began to explain so many things about his previous religion. Jesus revealed many things to Bishop Adeniyi, and he told him that He is the right path. I must say that in the first chapter of the Quran, verse 6, it says, ‘Lead us to the right path,’ and here, Jesus explained that He is the right path. This, He corroborated with the Bible verse of John 14 v 6. During the revelation, Jesus also cited another chapter in the Quran, which is Q3:55-56, which says, “Remember when Allah said, ‘O Jesus! I will take you and raise you up to Myself. I will deliver you from those who disbelieve, and elevate your followers above the disbelievers until the Day of Judgment. Then to Me you will all return, and I will settle all your disputes. Â (v56) As for those who disbelieve, I will subject them to a severe punishment in this life and the hereafter, and they will have no helpers.” So with these, you can see that Jesus is the only way as confirmed by the Quran.
So, as a protégé of Baba Joseph, he told us that there is nothing the name of Jesus cannot do. Through the name of Jesus, I have assisted a lot of people and they have been giving testimonies. Since then, we have been proclaiming Jesus to everybody, showing people that Jesus is the way of life.
You were once sent to prison, what really happened?
Yes, some Islamic clerics got us arrested due to our activities; this is part of the reason I decided to leave Islam completely. We were locked up in prison for two years plus, not for anything, but because we gave our lives to Jesus Christ and we were proclaiming his superiority. Those who locked us up expected us to perish in prison, but because Jesus is on the throne, here we are today.
What is now the difference between who you were and who are now?
There is a big difference. I was Alfa Abdullateef Abdulmumeen Olorunoje, but I am now Bishop Adekunle Oluwaseun! Halleluyah. I want to say that my new life in Jesus has made it possible to see the truth. Jesus is the light; Embracing Jesus has nothing to do with religion. I have come to realise that religion is an activity of man to please God, but it is impossible for anyone to please God in the flesh. We need Jesus to be able to please God and follow his commandments.
What can you say to the situation of the country?
To liberate Nigeria, we need to get closer to God; everybody, including our leaders, need to embrace God and be ready to follow His will. If our leavers embrace God, they will do the right things for the people who elected them; they will also focus on policies that will lift the people out of poverty.
So what advice do you have for Christians in Nigeria and in the other parts of the world?
To Nigeria Christians, we need to reconnect to Jesus in everything we do; we should come together to cry unto God to set us free from the daily massacres of our brethren in parts of the country. Also, Christians all over the world should come back to God. Jesus is the answer to all the problems facing the world and when we come back to Him, we will have that inner and global peace.

Great is our Lord, sir You are sold to Jesus.
