A country that does not have individuals who understand the importance of policies and the building of institutions, will continue to breed poverty-stricken citizens until the economy collapses completely.
Why is Nigeria where she is today?
We have strong individuals who have perfected the art of corrupting the Judiciary in their states while planting their stooges in the National Assembly towards perfecting the usurpation of our Constitution instead of enforcing the Constitution in favour of those they claim to represent
A perfect example of this is the recent incident between a Member of the House of Reps and a Bolt driver.
The HOR Member arrogantly placed himself over the “ordinary” Nigerian by slapping him and threatening him with death, for not worshipping him. Those who usurp the laws of the land have gone beyond rigging elections to controlling the levers of government to protect rigged votes, rendering impotent the power of the large number of voters who could have otherwise decided who represents them in government.
It is both strange and sad, a stark oddity that a population of over 200 million citizens are captives of less than 3,000 individuals who have found a way of coming together irrespective of their religion and tribe while using religion and tribe to divide the people
For us to have electoral reforms, the people must get involved at the grassroots level by getting into the parties and using their numbers to decide who represents them in each party, as their votes have been rendered impotent.
It is only after this battle has been won in the major political parties that can have credible political representatives emerge who can engineer electoral reforms at the National Assembly. Until then, we will keep going around in circles until we crash, and we are fast heading there with the value of our naira against the dollar.
To worsen our situation, the oppressed and downtrodden have become so demoralized that after being abused, they settle for whatever crumbs their oppressor throws at them, instead of understanding their rights as equal citizens with their oppressors and then fighting for justice until it is gotten.
The Bolt driver went back to meet his oppressor behind those who were fighting for justice fer him!
